Eat Like a Local: Philadelphia

Eat Like a Local: Philadelphia

Ever been to a new city and you're dying for local eats, but haven't a clue where to find those hidden gems? Welcome to a new series, "Eat Like a Local", where we find influencers in cities throughout the country to share with you their picks for local finds. First up is our city next door: Philadelphia. But this isn't just any guide to the best 'City of Brotherly Love' restaurants, rather a look at some of the best food trucks, featuring the expertise of Mollie from @phillyfoodies.

Farm Truck

For starters, Mollie headed to the all-natural Farm Truck, that serves up eclectic farm fresh foods and a truck to vibe with their mission of bringing farm-to-table to the Philly food truck scene. Featured in Thrillist and Roaming Hunger, the people behind the truck know a thing or two about creating mouth-watering dishes that come straight from the source. In this case, the source being local farms, bakeries, and coffee roasters.

Mollie's pick:

"I had the Short Rib Tacos with kim chi, miso aioli, cucumber, shisho & black bean shoot as well as the Crab Toast with avocado, Jersey peach, evoo, sea salt, heirloom gazpacho and veggies. Both were amazing and SO fresh."

Oink & Moo BBQ Truck

After taking time to get your healthy fix, it's time to indulge in some tasty barbecue. What's more, Oink & Moo was just announced as the Daily Meal's pick for Best Food Truck in America. Read more about it here. Decide for yourself what makes it the best, or try Mollie's pick:

"I got the Pulled Pork Sliders topped with their signature slaw and BBQ sauce. I’ve had these before, and they never disappoint."

Curbside Creamery Truck

A truck that serves Belgian waffle sundaes, classic nostalgic flavors, and gourmet cookies has my heart, and it's bound to steal yours too. The wife and husband duo are running this Philly dessert favorite, with farm fresh ice cream right out of Lancaster County. It's the perfect place to go to top off a meal in this summer heat. Grab a classic flavor in their homemade waffle cone or bowl after chowing on some farm food and BBQ for a 3-course food truck meal to remember.

Mollie's pick, traditional mint chocolate chip:
