If you attended our opening a couple weekends back, then you probably grabbed some Justin's almond butter packets on the way out. Our generous friends over at Justin's sent over a good amount of samples, so I decided to try out one of their own recipes and make some doughnuts. It gave me an excuse to finally buy a doughnut pan, after all.
Check out the recipe here for the full breakdown, but here's what you'll need to get started:
For the doughnuts:
- Whole Wheat Flour
- Coconut sugar
- Salt
- Baking Powder
- Cinnamon
- Eggs
- Applesauce
- Almond milk
- Vanilla
And, of course:
Justin's Almond Butter. The recipe specifically calls for the Maple variety, but when it comes to baking, go rogue or go home, amiright? So I used 3 different varieties: classic, maple, and chocolate.
I also didn't have coconut sugar or whole wheat flour, in other words I didn't follow the "guilt-free" part of the recipe, but they turned out tasting deliciously guilty anyway.
For the final touch, the glaze is the cherry on top:
- Justin's Almond Butter
- Powdered sugar
- Almond milk
Dip it in the glaze when they cool, and to give it an extra kick, swirl some chocolate almond butter on top. Go here for the full how-to on these doughnuts and make sure to give Justin's some love over on social media.
